It was a special moment, marking the end of their time at primary school and celebrating the friendships and memories they have made along the way.

Well done to all the boys and girls who represented the school at the Gaelic Tournament on Friday 8th May in St Peter’s GAC, Newcastle. They played superbly and showed great teamwork throughout. It was another excellent game and a fantastic experience for everyone involved.

Primary 7 Visit to Fairy Glen, Rostrevor
The Primary 7 trip to Fairy Glen with the Loughs Agency was a highlight of the programme. Following their classroom learning about fish and the habitats they live in, this visit provides a wonderful opportunity for pupils to see their knowledge come to life in a real-world setting.
Exploring the beautiful surroundings of Fairy Glen, pupils are able to observe the natural environment first-hand, deepening their understanding in a fun and engaging way.
The experience is both educational and inspiring, creating lasting memories for everyone involved.
P7 proudly celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation
Pictured with class is Fr Sean Dillon, Acting Principal Mr Hardy, class teacher Miss Collins and classroom assistants Victoria Sloan and Edel Poland, who all played an important role in supporting the pupils on their faith journey.
The day was a joyful milestone for students, families, and staff alike.
🔴⚫Red & Black Day at School🔴⚫
Our school showed plenty of red and black today as pupils and staff supported the Down Senior footballers ahead of their Ulster Semi-Final against Armagh this Sunday.
While most of the school backed Down, one brave Armagh-supporting teacher proudly wore her colours, adding a touch of friendly rivalry and good humour to the day.
Thank you to everyone who took part and helped build excitement for the match.

⚽ Girls’ Football Tournament – St Columban’s ⚽
Our girls attended the football tournament today at St Columban’s, competing in a 7-a-side competition. The team put in an outstanding performance throughout the day, remaining unbeaten all the way to the final🔥.
After a series of determined and exciting matches, they reached the final to face St Mary’s, Newcastle. The girls showed fantastic teamwork and sportsmanship, making it a brilliant achievement and a day to be very proud of.
Well done to all involved for representing the school so superbly👏
🚲 Active School Travel Programme – Bike Sessions 🚲
Our free bike sessions with Dave Wiggins, Active Travel Project Officer, took place this week and were very enjoyable.
The children had a great time building confidence and developing their cycling skills.
We’re hoping to run another Bike Skills Session (P4+) on Tuesday 3rd June 🚴♀️

Trocaire Presentation
A huge thank you to Nicholas Hanrahan from Trocaire for visiting our school today and for the cheque presentation of £630.30, raised during our Lenten Easter Raffle.
Nick also spoke to the children at assembly about the important work of Trocaire, helping them to understand how their fundraising can make a real difference in the lives of others.
We are very grateful everyone who contributed to making this wonderful fundraising effort such a success.

We’d like to extend a big thank you to Healthy Kidz, in partnership with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, for hosting a fantastic high‑energy event 🙌
From the fun warm-up to the lively workout, the session was full of energy, smiles, and excitement. It was wonderful to see the children enjoying a fun, vibrant, and safe experience, keeping active while having so much fun 💪😄
And we’re sure the mums and dads loved seeing them after school too… colourful but happy 😂

We were delighted to welcome Aisling from Cancer Fund for Children 💛, who visited the school to collect a cheque raised through our recent ReadOn initiative 📚
This fundraising effort highlighted the fantastic enthusiasm and commitment of our pupils, and we are proud to support the important work Cancer Fund for Children does for children and families 🌟

Our P7 pupils Hugh, Ayda & Emma attended the Cumann na mBunscoil an Duin GAA Skills Day in Hilltown yesterday.
They played in a series of Gaelic Football matches alongside boys and girls from primary schools across the county.
Well done to them 👏
Our School Council’s Easter Grand Draw and Guess the Sweets competition took place this week, and we were delighted to share the excitement with all our pupils. Check out the winners’ photos below 📸✨

🐰✨ Exciting Morning in Primary School! ✨🐰 We had a very special visitor in Primary School this morning… the Easter Bunny hopped in to say hello 🐣💛 The children enjoyed a fantastic Easter egg hunt organised by our P7s first, and then welcomed the Easter Bunny for a magical visit. 🌷🥚🐰 Lots of smiles, giggles, and a brilliant start to the day.
