P6

Monday 15th June

Good morning P6,

I hope you are all keeping well. It is great to see a return of the sunshine, let’s hope it sticks around! I hope you all enjoyed participating in our virtual Sport’s Day events. Please remember to upload your photos or clips directly to Miss Cunningham. If you haven’t had a chance because the weather wasn’t so good on Friday, you can still do it today and send in your pics by this afternoon. The video of our sport’s day will be shared tomorrow.

Our last week of Phonics is the ‘tion’ end sound. Another tricky sound, worth spending some time carefully sorting and learning. The ‘tion’ words are longer and quite advanced vocabulary which will be very important for next year’s reading and writing.

Mathletics continues, so please log in to review the tasks that have been set for you.

I have a very special task for you all this week instead of our usual ‘mini topic’. As you know the next 2 weeks are the last for our P7s at Holy Cross. You have been in class with the boys and girls from P7 since you started as P1 and therefore I am sure you have gotten to know them so well and will miss them in your class very much. I have arranged a little ‘social distanced’ farewell to the class. Unfortunately, you will be unable to attend as we must keep the numbers strictly limited, but I want you to prepare a little video message that we can show along with their ‘memory clip’ to say goodbye. Please take the time to do this. If you are not comfortable with a clip, a photo and a typed message will also work.

June in the month of devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In June we pray in a special way, reflecting on Jesus’ most sacred heart, that bore our sins so we might be forgiven. I have uploaded an image for you to colour, this can form a part of your special altar for the month of June. Perhaps add the prayer ‘Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you. Amen’ to the picture. This is a simple, yet powerful prayer.

Sunday is Father’s Day. I have uploaded some activities for Father’s Day but perhaps you will spend some time making a gift or card for your daddy, granda, favourite uncle… Anyone who is a role model or important person in your life.

Have a great week everyone!

Mrs Sloan
