Primary 7 Leaver Hoodies
Receiving leaver hoodies is such a special way to commemorate the end of Primary 7. It's a great keepsake for the students to remember their time and experiences.
Primary 3 received the Sacrament of First Confession this morning.
Mrs Norris is so proud of all the boys and girls, the manner in which we all prepared for and how they all conducted themselves during the ceremony. It was a beautiful service, and it was lovely to see so many parents and Grandparents join us for such a personal occasion.

Holy Cross Primary school presented Aisling Cunningham of the Children's Cancer Fund for Children with a cheque for £703.40, raised during the school's 'Readon' event which took place on World Book Day.

A special thank you to Conrad Haughian from Conrad Developments for his generous donation of Easter eggs to every child in Holy Cross Primary School.

Green Day 2025
Today our school celebrated Green Day in honour of St. Patrick, our patron saint. Pupils and staff dressed in green and we were treated to a wonderful assembly.
Peace Proms 2025
Our pupils and staff had the most wonderful experience at the Peace Proms in the SSE Arena on Sunday 9th March 2025. We were so proud of our children as they sang their hearts out with children from other schools, accompanied by the Cross Border Youth Orchestra. A great day out! Brilliant boys and girls! 🎤🎶👏🏻
World Book Day 6 March 2025
Today we held a ‘Book Swap’.
We invited children to choose a book from their own book shelves at home that they are willing to swap in return for a new book, they brought the book in wrapped with a little blog for its new owner.
Bee Safe 4th March 2025
Primary 7’s attended a ‘Bee Safe’ multi-agency community safety event this morning in An Riocht, Kilkeel. They all learnt the importance of staying safe both at home and outdoors.
The event was a partnership event between us and the Newry, Mourne and Down Council. This event was a proactive, multi agency community safety initiative specifically aimed at the Primary 7 age group.
The Bee Safe aim was to help the pupils know how to react in dangerous situations, understand the role of the emergency services, develop good relationships with various authorities and increase safety awareness.
Feis an Duín
On Saturday 1st March the annual Feis an Duín took place in Castlewellan High School. Well done to the children who participated.
Warrenpoint Feis 2025
Congratulations to all the children who participated in the Warrenpoint Feis over the last two weeks. Whether they won medals or simply enjoyed the experience, they should all be very proud of themselves.
Grandparents Day
Today we celebrated 'Grandparents Day' as part of Catholic Schools Week.
During Catholic Schools Week we celebrate the important role played by grandparents in passing on the faith. The love of a grandparent is to be celebrated and cherished and it is so important to show our grandparents our gratitude and celebrate all that they do for us.
Thank you to all our grandparents and parents for joining us today and helping us to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. We hope you enjoyed the celebration as much as we did!

St Louis Grammar PE Dept
The PE department at St Louis Grammar returned this morning for another PE session with our P6/7 Class.
They really enjoyed the session and look forward to the last one next week!
Today Aisling Cunningham from the Cancer Fund for Children came to received a cheque for £93 that was raised from our Christmas Jumper day which was held on 6 December 2024. Thank you to everyone who donated to this very worthwhile charity.
St. Louis' Grammar School Outreach Program
Thank you so much to the teachers who came from St. Louis' Grammar School to work with the children in our school to continue to develop our skills in this vital area of the Curriculum.
The children had a wonderful time developing their co-ordination, GAA and teamwork skills and the teachers learned some new games that they will be implementing our own PE sessions.
It's wonderful when community schools work together!
Fundamental Skills in PE
As this term, came to an end Mr Hardy awarded everyone with a special certificate to highlight their participation in Fundamental Skills in PE.
He presented selected children with a goodie bags in recognition of their great contribution to the PE sessions. Thank you Mr Hardy

KS2 Carol Service 2024!
Last Thursday, we celebrated Christmas with our carol service and wow…what a performance! The children sang beautifully and really did us all proud.

St Louis Technology Challenge
Congratulations to Aidan & James who successfully represented Holy Cross in the recent St Louis Technology Challenge. A great experience was had by both pupils and they did their school proud by coming third in the competition.
Kilkeel Credit Union Art Competition
Many thanks to Sheila for taking the time to visit Holy Cross this afternoon to present the winners of the Kilkeel Credit Union Art Competition with certificates.
The standard as always was very high and Sheila thanked all the children, for their superb efforts, producing fantastic art work.
The theme was ‘The Joys of Life’.
Congratulations to all the children who won prizes and they are all very appreciative of the lovely prizes they received from the Holy Cross Credit Union.

Digital Leaders
Congratulations to our new Digital Leader's Team within our school.
Their job is to be advocates for good behaviour with technology, support teachers where ever possible and to showcase a range of digital skills under the guidance of ICT Co-ordintor Mrs Woods.

Shoe Box Appeal
Well done to everyone who took part in our shoe box appeal this year! We had 39 shoe boxes!
Police Officers from the Neighbour Policing Team came today to talk to P5 - P7 about online safety. This was a great opportunity for pupils to be reminded of the potential dangers of being online and what we should do if we feel unsafe or sacred while being online.

Today we asked everyone to ‘labhair Gaeilge linn inniu’ as we participated in Gaeilge24… speaking Irish for the day! We tried to use as many of our Irish words and phrases as possible throughout the school day!

Anti-bullying week NI
The theme this year is ‘Respect’. The children will be exploring this theme throughout the week in their classes. To mark the beginning of Anti-bullying week, the children are invited to take part in ‘Odd Socks Day’ on Monday 11th November 24. Please take time to discuss the theme with your child throughout the week.
Blythswood Care Shoe Box Appeal
Holy Cross PS' annual shoe-box collection for Blythswood Care was completed on Friday 8 November 2024, as the Blythswood Crew came and collected 39 Shoe-boxes. Thank you for all the donations.
Woolly Hat Day
We took part in Woolly Hat Day to raise money for Mourne Stimulus. As a school we raised £115
It has been rather spooky at Holy Cross today with the children dressing up in their Halloween fancy dress costumes!
Spelling Bee
The children in P2-7 have been working hard to learn their spellings for the class Spelling Bees. Well done everyone who participated - you should all be very proud of your brilliant efforts!
Scór na nÓg
A huge Comhghairdeas to all of our Scór na nÓg participants who put themselves forward to represent Atticall in the Semi Finals.
A huge well done to our dancers Emily, Ellen, Mary Kate, Brea, Emily Rose and Isla who danced brilliantly on Friday night in Glasdrumman and have made it through to the County Final!
Our recitations participants did a great job in Mayobridge also with Hugh who preformed a fantastic extract from “my first confession” and Maria who recited “My mother doesn’t want a dog”. A tough section of the competition but Maria has also secured a place in the county final!
The Scór na nÓg county final will take place in Atticall Community Centre on the 9th November. Please come along and support our competitors.
Mourne Community First Responders Presentation
Helene and Tanya from Mourne Community First Responders visited the school today to be presented with a cheque for £2184.02 & 50 euros which was raised through our annual sponsored walk in Mourne Park in September.

Atticall GAC Presentation
We are delighted to be sponsoring Miss Rooney who is an Atticall GAC Senior Camog, in preparation for the championship game this Saturday.

HSENI "Avoid Harm on the Farm" 2025 Calendar Competition.
The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland and NI Farm Safety Partnership recently launched their child safety poster competition.
The competition was for children to draw and colour a picture to illustrate a farm safety message and use their voice to remind parents and family members of the risks involved in farming.
Congratulations to Brea in Primary 7 who was one of the winners and received a £50 voucher.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Atticall GAC for their generous donation of footballs and bibs to our school for this year's PE sessions.
Your support not only enhances our physical education program but also fosters a love for sports and teamwork among our students. The new footballs will allow them to practice essential skills while the bibs help create a more organized and engaging environment during games and drills.
We are excited to see how these resources will contribute to our students' development both on and off the field.
