Upcoming events at Holy Cross Primary School
On Friday 10th November the first winners of our new Principal's Learning and Behaviour Awards received their invite to an afternoon tea to celebrate their fantastic achievement at the end of the month.
Each week the Principal will select, with the help from her teachers and staff one child from KS1 and one child from KS2 who will be invited to a special afternoon tea with the Principal at the end of each month.
The new awards celebrate those who consistently display excellence in their learning and/or behaviour. Pupils who display leadership in lessons, speak with purpose in class and produce excellent classwork and homework on a regular basis now find themselves nominated for an award.
It will be a lovely occasion with lots of cake and laughter!
We are incredibly proud of our first winners...

The countdown is on! Anti-Bullying Week 2017 will be launched in just under two months. We’re busy behind the scenes organising exciting events and building upon the success of the past few years.
What is Anti-Bullying Week all about?
Anti-Bullying Week is a time to acknowledge that bullying behaviour is an issue and affects many children and young people at school, in youth groups and other settings. It is also a time to promote awareness of the issue as well as promote good anti-bullying policy and practice.
What’s the theme?
This year’s theme is “All equal, All different, All together”.
The theme is about inclusivity, respect, kindness, acceptance and celebrating equality in difference. This year, both Northern Ireland Anti-Bullying Forum (NIABF) and Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA) in England will have a similar theme to celebrate this idea of difference and equality for all.

Primary 4, 5, 6 and 7 children in Holy Cross Primary School, Atticall, took part in a sponsored walk in Silent Valley last week to raise money for the Concern Worldwide Emergency Appeal. The children raised £2040.70, which was presented to Mr Eoin Duffy, a concern representative last Friday. Mr Duffy said he was very impressed with the children’s efforts and gave the children a presentation on how these much needed funds would be put to use. Holy Cross would like to express their sincere thanks to all the families and friends who supported this cause and helped to make the event such a success.
The Education Authority has informed our school that from 1st April 2017 the cost of a school dinner will rise to £2.55 and effective from 1st September 2017 will rise to £2.60.
The Education Authority did not consult schools on these increases. Any complaints about the increase in costs of school meals should be directed to Gavin Boyd Chief Executive Education Authority for Northern Ireland.
Yours sincerely
Mr RJ Dinsmore
Principal
